OBITUARIES - THE SHERIDAN PRESS - November 21, 2001

Dwayne Giroux Ketcham, 68, of Sheridan died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, after a lifelong battle with diabetes.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. today at Kane Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Logan officiating.

Burial was in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with full military honors.

Mr. Ketcham was born Oct. 27, 1933, in Monarch to Homer and Bernice (Giroux) Ketcham. He attended Sheridan schools and was a 1952 graduate of Sheridan High School.

While in high school, he worked for the Hosford Ranch, the railroad and Booras Food Market. He attended Sheridan College for a short time.

He played saxophone in a local dance band.

He married Doris (Brewer) Schilling June 26, 1964, in Sheridan.

He joined the Air Force in 1955, serving as a radio traffic analyst with the Intelligence Department. He retired in 1958 due to illness.

He worked at the Mills Printing Company as book binder and foreman of the bindery from 1959-83. He worked for a short time for the highway department and Port of Entry, starting in 1984.

He was active in Scouting, and was a member of Monarch Troop 117. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of the local chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons and the Sheridan-Johnson County Pioneers.

He loved traveling, especially to Disneyland. He also enjoyed reading, his grandchildren and his player piano.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Darrell and Homer Jr., and a nephew.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry Wayne of Belfrey, Mont.; a daughter, Lisa Howard of Wamego, Kansas; two brothers, Garey of Sheridan and Ronald of Billings; a sister, Gayle Warne of Buffalo; and seven grandchildren.
