Shirley Karen ELKIN 1934 - 2016 SHS 1952

Shirley Karen Elkin passed away on January 4, 2016 at her residence.

She was born in Billings, MT on October 17, 1934 to Wayne and Irene Elkin, who then moved to Sheridan, WY in 1937.

Shirley grew up attending Sheridan schools until her high school graduation. She participated in the nursing program at Carroll College, attained her LPN certification at Casper College and later studied at Sheridan College.

She was employed in the healthcare profession with several entities in Sheridan and other locations in Wyoming.

She contributed through volunteering, working in retail with local businesses and providing help for several individuals in the private sector.

Her first marriage was to Bill Babcock (deceased), and then to Vincent Mediate, both ending in divorce.

She lived briefly in Lewistown, MT and returned home to Sheridan.

Her interests included a love of the mountains, biking, and hiking. She was an avid walker and creative with needlepoint.

Her parents preceded her in death, along with her brother, John Elkin.

She is survived by two daughters, Kim Philipps of Boise, ID, and Pam Sajec of Sheridan, along with two grandchildren.
