E.A. “Chic” Dunne, 75, of Sheridan died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

Visitation is 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Phil Wold officiating. Interment will be in the Elks Section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with graveside services by Sheridan Elks Lodge 520 and military rites by American Legion Post 7 and the Army National Guard.

Born July 26, 1934, in Sioux City, Iowa, to George and Muriel (Wright) Dunne, he grew up in Sheridan, attended Holy Name School, and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1952.

He joined the Marine Corps and served during the Korean War.

Afterward, he was a fireman in California, then moved to Sheridan, where he was a fireman at the VA Medical Center.

He married Dee Mathews on Dec. 15, 1955, in Sheridan.

In 1970, Mr. Dunne started the WYO Barber Shop, which he owned and operated until his death.

He was a member of Sheridan Elks Lodge 520 and the Elks’ D.A.R.E. program, was past exalted ruler of the Elks, and member of American Lodge Post 7, Big Horn Mountain Eagles, the Marine Corps League, and Trinity Lutheran Church.

He played the trumpet in numerous bands from his high school years until the present.

He also enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, storytelling, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 2008 and one brother.

He is survived by two sons, Mike Dunne of Silverdale, Wash., and Matt Dunne of Aurora, Colo.; one daughter, Michelle McCune of Sheridan; four brothers, Calvin Dunne of Sheridan, James Gualco of Oregon, Patrick Gualco of Missouri, and Joseph Gualco of Iowa; his mother, Muriel Wilson; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may benefit the National Cancer Society, Cerebral Palsy Foundation, or Elks Youth Rodeo.
