SHERIDAN - Private family graveside services will be conducted for Ranchester resident Robert J. Spicer, 71, who died Oct. 30, 2004, at Sheridan Veterans Affairs Medical Center,

At his request, cremation has taken place under the direction of Champion-Ferries Funeral Home of Sheridan.

Born April 2, 1933, in Sheridan, he was the son of Otis and Anne D. (Wallach) Spicer; was raised and educated there; and graduated from Sheridan High School.

He then joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Sheridan and held various jobs before going to work for the V.A. Hospital in housekeeping. He retired after 20 years of service there.

A member of Holy Name Church and Eagles Lodge No. 186 in Sheridan, he was an avid builder of model planes; and of remote-control airplanes, spending hours flying them.

Survivors include his mother, Anne D. Aksamit of Sheridan; son, Bill Spicer of Moses Lake, Wash.; a grandson; and a granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his father and a son.
