John R. Mills, 77, of Sheridan, WY died Saturday, March 28, 2010, in Sheridan Manor.

John was born January 28, 1933, in Big Horn, WY to John & Catherine (Nourse) Mills.

John grew up and attended school in Big Horn and graduated from Sheridan High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in the Air Police.

John married Elizabeth Blaney on May 26, 1953, in Sheridan.

He worked with his father on their sheep ranches until he lost his leg to cancer in 1963. He then worked at Pacific Finance and Carroll Realty. He finished his working career as the office manager at Spring Creek Coal retiring in the late 1980’s.

John and Liz then spent their winters in Arizona playing golf. He was a member of Elks Lodge #520 and First Baptist Church. John enjoyed golf, woodworking, hunting, fishing, camping and making golf clubs.

John was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Helen Mills, Marge Long and Jean Ratcliff.

John is survived by his wife Liz of Sheridan; sons John, Jr. of Anchorage, AK and Jock Blaney of Las Vegas, NV; daughter Beth Larson of Sheridan; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 11:00am until 4:00pm on Wednesday (Mar. 31st) from Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00am on Thursday from Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Doolin officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Big Horn. Military rites performed by the American Legion and the Wyoming National Guard.

Memorials may benefit First Baptist Church.
