John A. Landon, age 79, of Meeteetse, WY, died Thursday, November 22, 2012 at West Park Hospital in Cody. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he was surrounded by his family.

John worked on several ranches in the Sheridan area before moving to Meeteetse and worked at the 91 Ranch. He worked for 17 years for the Highway Department and also was mayor of Meeteetse for several years.

John was a kind and loving man who knew his Lord and Savior and believed in the power of prayer. He was always willing to help out others. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends he met along the way.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rosalie (Carroll) Landon of Meeteetse, WY; his children Cathy (Terry) Shier of Cody, WY; Clint (Linda) Landon of Cheyenne, WY; Mike (Vera) Landon of Spanish Fort, AL.; sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hicks of Aurora, CO; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Gale and Maxine Kinzer, his wife's parents Mr. and Mrs. Jim Carroll of Sheridan, WY, and a young son John Jr. in 1970.

A private memorial service will be held in Meeteetse at a later date.
