Dolores M. KOBOLD Burley 1933 - 2014 SHS 1951

Dolores M. Burley, age 80, peacefully joined her Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 at Hospice House in Lansing, MI.

She was born July 3, 1933 in Sheridan, WY to Elmer E. "Slim" and Rose M. (Smith) Kobold. Known to her siblings and western family as "Bubbles", Dolores was raised on a cattle ranch in Kirby, MT with her 5 siblings. She often reminisced about riding her horse to school to attend a one room school house. Since there was no high school in the area, Dolores' parents made boarding arrangements in nearby Sheridan, WY where she completed her high school education and graduated in 1951. Dolores loved her heritage and, in many respects, remained a cowgirl at heart all of her life.

On February 10, 1951, Dolores married Stuart B. "Tim" McKennan. They were married 31 years and had 7 children together.

After raising her family, Dolores lived out her faith by devoting her time to the surrounding community through such involvements as past president of Lansing Chapter Women Aglow Fellowship International; Lansing Pastor's Prayer Network; and served as President of GNS Christian cable television since the early 80's.

On November 16, 1984, she married her second husband, Alton "Shiner" Burley who joined in her pursuit of Christian broadcasting at GNS until his death September 25, 2000. With the assistance and support of her local children, grandchildren and volunteers, Dolores continued her commitment and dedication to GNS until her retirement in 2012.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, John R. McKennan; granddaughter, Angela (McKennan) Worrell; brothers, George Kobold and Dr. Elmer E. Kobold, Jr; and sister, Joanne McKennan.

Surviving are 6 children: Mary J. McKennan, Barry B. McKennan, Lori R. Raby, Judy B. Curtis, Robert E. "Corky" McKennan and Jennifer G. Burley; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Kathleen Skelton and Lenore Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 4:00 PM Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River, East Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00-4:00 PM.
