Dorothy Pat KAY Smith 1933 - 2012 SHS 1951

Funeral services for Pat Smith, 78 year old Buffalo resident who passed away early Monday morning, March 12, at the Johnson County Health Care Center in Buffalo will be held Saturday, March 24, at 10:00 a.m. from the Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Connie Cranston officiating. Private family interment will be in the Sheridan Cemetery . Donations in Mrs. Smith's memory may be made to the United Methodist Church in care of the Adams Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.

Dorothy Patricia Smith was born on September 1, 1933 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Burtis and Dorothy (Sackett) Kay. She spent most of her childhood in Big Horn where she attended grade school and was active in 4-H. She graduated from Sheridan High School with the class of 1951. After high school she attended the University of Wyoming and later transferred to the University of Arkansas where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics in 1955. Pat was married to Richard Allen Smith on December 3rd, 1955 in Reno, Nevada where Dick was working at the time for Western Electric. They made their home for many years in Casper, Wyoming where Pat taught 2nd grade at Willard Elementary School and raised two sons. They retired in 1991 and moved to Buffalo, Wyoming where they lived until the time of her death.

Pat was a member of the Buffalo Women's Connection, United Methodist Women, Buffalo Quilting Gals, the Wyoming State Quilt Guild as well as past member of the Shell Piney Homemakers Club and the Cloud Peak Investment Club.

She is survived by her husband Richard of Buffalo; two sons, David W. Smith and his wife Susan of Houston, Texas and Kevin J. Smith and his wife Cathi of Abilene, Kansas; one brother Wallace Kay of Seattle Washington; four grandchildren, Ashley and Tanner Smith of Houston, Texas and Austin and Shaleigh Smith of Abilene, Kansas; two step granddaughters, Stephanie Witt of Lindsborg, Kansas and Victoria Mestl of Osceola, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister Arlene Sackett Kay of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
