Kenneth A. Kane, 75, of Wolf, Wyoming, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2009 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Ken was born in Sheridan on December 5, 1933 to Charles and Lily Kane. After graduating from Sheridan High School he served in the US Navy.

Ken was raised and worked for many years on the Kane Ranch and later ranched on his own in Montana. He enjoyed competing in rodeos and ropings where he was successful. He also had a keen eye for good horses and cattle and raised and raced many quality race horses.

He was a member of the Catholic Church, a Gold Card Member of the PRCA, a life member of the Elks, the American Legion and the Arizona Thoroughbred Breeders Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his best friend and companion of 33 years, Gloria James; two daughters, Janet Hahn and husband Allan, of Lakeview, OR and Jody Kane of Natchitoches, LA; 1 granddaughter, Allison Kane Hahn with whom he enjoyed many visits on the phone about the weather and other important news; and special nephew, Phil Kane and wife Ranelle, of Wolf, WY.

Other survivors include two sisters; Genevieve Hendrickson and husband Don, of Sheridan and Karolyn Gainan and husband Chuck, of Billings, MT; a brother, Charles Kane and wife Arlene, of Sheridan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Per Ken’s request cremation has taken place and funeral services followed by a celebration of his life will be held in Sheridan at a later date which will be announced in June.

Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
