William J. Preston, 78, of Cheyenne died July 8 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.

He was born April 22, 1931 in Sheridan.

He was retired from the Army National Guard communications division. He served Aug. 9, 1950, to Nov. 28, 1952, during the Korean War.

He is survived by two daughters, Michelle Reed of Cheyenne and Tami Ryan of Tempe, Ariz.; two sisters, Virginia Herrick of Washington and Lois Trujillo of Sheridan; brother, Pete "Wahoo" Preston; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Jean Preston; his parents, Pete and Julia Preston; two brothers, Donald Preston and Bobby Preston.

Private family services will be held.
