Helen Marcella "Scoopy" NEWBIGGING Woods 1930 - 2015 SHS 1950

Former Sheridan resident Helen Marcella "Scoopy" Newbigging Woods, 85, passed away in Soldotna, Alaska at the Central Peninsula Hospital on June 24, 2015.

Helen was born May 23, 1930 in Sheridan, Wy. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1950, moved to Alaska in 1959 and resided in Anchorage until 1973. She returned to Wyoming and worked at Wyoming Girls School, until retiring in 1992. She returned to Alaska in 2004 and resided in Sterling.

Helen was a member of the Does at the Elks Club.

She loved singing, drawing, going to the mountains, taking drives and the ocean. She also loved spending time with her family.

Helen is survived by her sons, Doug Bradshaw of Sterling, AK, David Bradshaw of Anchorage, AK, and George Woods of Soldotna, AK; daughter, Linda Sayer of Sheridan; granddaughters, Nichole Koch (Raney) of Gillette; Marci Boschee (Rudy) of Parachute, CO; and Shannon; grandsons, Colby Harber and Calvert Sayer both of Sheridan; Christopher Athey and Nathan Woods, (Jerrica) all of Soldotna, AK; and numerous great-grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of Helen's life at the Elks Club 45 Brundage, Saturday September 19,2015 at 1:00pm.
