Betty M. LEO Newlon 1932 – 1995 SHS 1950

SHERIDAN - Mass of the Christian Burial will be said for Betty M. Newlon, 62, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, 1995, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan with Fr. Eugene Sullivan officiating. Interment will be in the Elks Cemetery. Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, 1995, at Champion Funeral Home in Sheridan.

Mrs. Newlon died at her home on Jan. 31, 1995.

She was born Aug. 13, 1932, in Shendan, the daughter of Tony and Nellie (Morrissey) Leo. She attended Holy Name Catholic School and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1950.

She was employed as a teacher's aide for more than 20 years at Coffeen School and recently worked at the Senior Center.

She was married to LaVon Newlon in Sheridan on Dec. 15, 1951.

She will be remembered for her good sense of humor. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and attending their activities along with family and friends. She also enjoyed shopping, walking, traveling and bowling.

Survivors include her husband, LaVon, of Sheridan; two daughters, Cathy Fortier of Ranchester and Carol Araas of Sheridan; one son, Jim Newlon of College Station, Texas; three sisters, Kathleen Legerski of Casper, Eileen Adams of Gillette and Josephine Garriott of Sheridan; one brother, Jim Leo of Sheridan; seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Tom Leo.

Memorials in her memory may be designated for: Senior Citizens Center, Holy Name School or American Legion Baseball, in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, Sheridan, 82801.
