SHERIDAN -- Memorial services for Elsie Mae Hammett, 74, will be held at 10 a.m. today, April 5, 2007, at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Derryberry officiating.

She died March 31, 2007, in Westview Health Care Center.

She was born Sept. 9, 1932, in Lame Deer, Mont., to Harry and Beula (Graham) Kelsey.

She grew up and graduated from high school in Sheridan. She graduated from Sheridan College.

She married Cecil Foss in 1949.

She worked in the psychiatric ward at the VA Medical Center. Her husband preceded her in death.

She married Edward Hammett on May 7, 1976.

She worked at the City Water Treatment Plant until she retired in 1987.

She was a member of Eagles No. 186 Auxiliary.

She enjoyed oil painting, flower gardening, sewing crafts and loved the color purple.

Survivors include her husband of Sheridan, sons, Bill Foss of Ponder, Texas, and Jesse Hammett of Ranchester; daughters, Sherri Powers of Breckenridge, Texas and Colleen Chavira of El Paso, Texas; brother, Bill Kelsey of Sheridan; sisters, Ardis Bowman of Sheridan and Donna Yarrington of Littleton, Colo.; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Terry and brothers, Jim and Frank Kelsey.

Memorials may benefit the Sheridan Senior Citizen's Center, 211 Smith St., Sheridan.
