Virginia Lee "Pokey" White, 79, of Sheridan passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at the Sheridan Manor.

Pokey was born on September 28, 1932 in Billings, MT to parents Mike and Gladys (Paustain) Janich.

She married Gene White in 1952. She worked for several years as a cook with Annie at the Golden Steer. Pokey loved gardening, canning, spending a few quarters gambling, playing cards with friends and spending time with her family.

Pokey was preceded in death by her parents, brother in law, Tony Nickel, a sister, Mamie Nickel, and nephew, Mark Nickel.

She is survived by her husband, Gene, daughters; Dona White, Buni (Luke Sherman) Ruby, and Teri (Mark) Dick all of Sheridan, WY, a brother Bud (Harriet) Janich of Queen Valley, AZ, along with three grandchildren; Joe, Tera, and Jason and one great-grandchild, Kinley.

A Memorial Service for Pokey will be held at a later date.

Memorials to honor Pokey can be made to the Sheridan Senior Center at 211 Smith St., Sheridan, WY 82801.
