Herbert Carl Deutsch, 80, of Livingston, entered the beautiful gardens of heaven Sunday, July 3, 2011. Cremation has taken place at Franzen-Daveis Crematory, and private family services will be held at a later date.

Herb was born in Ranchester, Wyo., March 22, 1931, one of 12 children of Christor an Amelia Deutsch. He grew up in Sheridan, Wyo.

Following high school graduation he enter the U.S. Army and proudly served his country from 1951 to 1952, during the Korean War.

In 1952, he married Mary Ann Michel and together they raised four children.

He began working for the United States Postal Service in Livingston that same year, and also worked for Railway express Agency. In 1987, he retired from the postmaster position in Powell, Wyo., and in 1988, he and Ann returned to Livingston to enjoy retirement.

Throughout his life, Herb was active in several community service clubs and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was a compassionate man who was always concerned about the welfare and safety of others.

Survivors include his wife, Ann; his children, Sherry (Rich Wright), Cindy (Rick Loftice), Adam, and Alisa (Dan Grabowska); brother Christof Deutsch, and sister, Lillian Sadler, both in Sheridan, Wyo.; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews; cherished friends; and his special companion and dog, Misty.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful caregivers at Livingston Memorial Hospital and Livingston HospiceCare, and also St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings. To all who knew him, please know that your prayers and love are a priceless gift.
