C. W. “Bill” Babcock, 76, of Sheridan, WY, died Saturday, July 4, 2009 at his residence.

Bill was born April 1, 1933 in Sheridan, WY to Charles Leslie and Grace (Snell) Babcock. He grew up and attended Sheridan schools and graduated from Sheridan High School. He then attended Sheridan Community College.

Mr. Babcock was in the U. S. Navy for 2 years. Upon his return from the service, Bill went to work for Ed Hammer, Inc where he became the sales manager during his 42 years of service. For the past 11 years, he has been the president and vice president of the Marna M. Kuchne Foundation.

Bill was a member of the American Legion, Sheridan Elk’s Lodge #520, and the cabin owner’s association.

He enjoyed restoring a 1959 corvette, and during his retirement building his cabin in the Big Horn Mountains where his spent all of his free time. Bill was also very active in veteran’s affairs.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister.

He is survived by two daughters, Kim Philipps, of Boise, Idaho, and Pam Sajec, of Bozeman, Montana; one sister, Khariman Creswell, of Sheridan, WY; and 2 grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life for Bill will be 2:00 P. M. Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Miller officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
