Daniel I. Springer, 78, of Sheridan passed away on Friday, November 5, 2010, at Sheridan Manor surrounded by his family.

Dan was born in Sheridan, Wyoming on October 25, 1932 to Lena Dowell and William Springer. He was raised in Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1949.

Dan joined the Navy in May of 1951, and retired from Naval Services December 3, 1998 after 32 years of service. He was a Master Chief Petty Officer and served in Korea.

He married Jean Arnieri on September 17, 1955. Later he married Willa Fugate on January 11, 1999 in Sheridan.

He was a rancher, worked at the Wyoming Highway Department, Decker Coal, Sheridan Country Club and Sugarland Development.

He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Life Member Elks 520, the American Legion with 52 years, and plank owner USA Navy Memorial in Washington DC.

Dan enjoyed fishing, gardening and yard work and loved spending time with his friends and family.

Dan was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Springer on June 15, 1997 and also his parents.

He is survived by his wife Willa Springer of Sheridan, children, Dan (Joette) Springer of Phoenix AZ., Debra Springer, of Las Vegas, NV, Dale Ann (Larry) Kobielusz of Sheridan, WY, Rhonda Jean (Larry) Hennewinkel, of Rock Springs, WY, grandchildren, Alyse Springer and Kara Springer, of Laramie, WY, Josh Springer of Henderson, CO., Misty (Corbin) Bateman of Sheridan, Mel (Marty) Baker of Hemet, CA, Aaron (Debra) Baker, of Reno, NV, Desirie (Steve) Mann of Casper, WY, Jessica Gdisis and Aaron Steilen, both of Billings, MT, great grandchildren, Alex Clearwater, Jack Ross, Steve Bateman, and Randy Bateman all of Sheridan, WY, Sydney Mann and Stephen Mann, both of Casper, WY, Mel Baker, and Dah'vee Baker of Hemet, CA, Aspen Baker and Alysa Baker both of Reno, NV., brother Dick Springer of Sheridan, and sister Monna Monk of Buffalo, WY and several nieces and nephews in Wyoming, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and California.

Visitation for Dan will be held from 6 to 7 pm, on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at Kane Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at Kane Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Ludwig officiating, internment will be in the Sheridan Elks Cemetery. A reception will follow at the First Assembly of God Church, 1045 Lewis Street, Sheridan, Wyoming.
