Ruby Jeanette (Mick) SHOSTEN Mediate 1930 - 1948 SHS 1949

Ruby Jeanette (Mick) Mediate went to meet her heavenly Father December 20, 2012.

She was born on January 27, 1930, to William Burton Shosten and Eva May (Kershner) Shosten, in Buffalo, Wyoming.

She married the love of her life, Frank A. Mediate, Jr., on November 6, 1949, and together they had two beautiful daughters, Cheryle Kay Amick and Carol Lynn Grandahl.

Ruby spent her childhood in the Sourdough Lumber Camp in the mountains outside of Buffalo, Wyoming, with a short stay in British Columbia, Canada. She attended grade school in Buffalo and Acme, and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1949.

She started working for Dr. George Ewan, as a dental technician. But her most important job was staying at home with her daughters until they finished grade school. After her girls were older, she worked for Mountain Bell Telephone as a telephone operator, at Safeway Grocery Store, and at the Veterans Administration Hospital as a clerk in the postal department. She retired in 1973.

Ruby loved to spend time with her husband and family, especially baking for them and cooking Sunday dinners. She sewed and kept a tidy and loving home. She also liked sports, waterskiing, camping, and watching football, especially when her grandsons played. She loved to travel and after retirement she and Frank went to Mexico, Hawaii, California, Oregon, New York, Idaho, and Colorado. Her and Frank's last trip was spent taking two of her grandchildren to visit their brother.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; William Burton Shosten and Eva May (Kershern) Shosten; sister, Sandra Lee Shosten; and brother, William Dale Shosten; her aunt Edith Mary (Kershner) Brokaw; and her parents-in-law, Frank A. Mediate, Sr., and Carmella Marie (Garriffa) Mediate.

She leaves behind a large and loving family. Her husband of 63 years, Frank A. Mediate, Jr.; her eldest daughter Cherlye Kay Amick, her husband, Mervin Amick, and their daughter, Megan Jeanette; her youngest daughter, Carol Lynn Grandahl, her husband, Jerry M. Grandahl, Sr., and their children, Charles D. Ruff and his wife, Tenielle Fordyce-Ruff, Christy L. (Ruff) Mediate, and Jerry M. (Bo) Grandahl, Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Lillian and Cole Kukuchka; her sister-in-law, Maxine Shosten, and her sons, Billy Paul and Tony Dale; and her cousin, Connie Lee (Brokaw) Krezelok, and her husband, John, and daughter, Rebecca.

She was a child of God who is blessed to be in peace now. She left this world surrounded by her loving family, who were holding her and reciting her favorite prayer, The Lord's Prayer.
