OBITUARIES - GILLETTE NEWS-RECORD - May 12, 2003

A celebration of life and memorial services for Jeanine Varner, 73, of Gillette will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Family Life Church in Gillette with the Rev. Marty Crump officiating.

Mrs. Varner died of natural causes on Thursday, May 8, 2003, at Campbell County Memorial Hospital.

She was born on Nov. 17, 1929, in Kirby to Richard and Francis Halbert.  She was raised and educated in Sheridan, where she graduated from high school in 1949.
In September 1949, she married Philip Varner in Sheridan.  They moved in 1952 to Gillette, where they lived for 51 years.

After her husband's retirement, they spent many years traveling.  They enjoyed many adventures, touring the United States and abroad.  During the winters, they enjoyed their time in Arizona and California.

She loved to sew tailor-made clothing for her children when they were young.  She was extremely devoted to her family, volunteering in many of her children's activities.  She crafted her life around being a mother, a grandmother and a wife.

Mrs. Varner is survived by her husband of Gillette; a son, Phil Varner of Bozeman, Mont.; two daughters, Teri Hunter of Gillette and Debbie DiMichele of Ennis, Mont.; a sister, Natalie Sare of Huntington Beach, Calif.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dick Halbert in 1986.

A memorial has been established in her name to benefit the Northeast Wyoming Hospice and donations may be sent in care of Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home, 210 W. Fifth St., Gillette, WY 82716.
