Edward Charles COOK 1931 - 2014 SHS 1949

Major Edward Charles Cook, USMC (retired) died August 18, 2014 in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 83.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elaine (Saunders) Cook; daughters Michelle (Michael) Novak, Kimberley (Jeremy) Hein and grandson Camden Novak, sisters Mary Lewis, Elaine Hayes and brother Bert (Nancy) Cook.

Edward was born June 30, 1931 in Sheridan, Wyoming, where he worked on ranches and loved horses.

Major Cook spent 20 years in the United States Marine Corp where he received numerous medals and badges, one of his proudest accomplishments came after his first solo flight while in flight school.

Edward knew the value of being a good husband, father, grandfather and friend. He knew the precious value of life and helping others. He also taught his daughters how to pray when things are tough, to know the Bible, and to trust in Jesus. Edward was the family's rock and sounding board and exhibited how a family should support each other in times of crisis.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward H. Cook and Marie (Avery) Cook, sisters Bernice, Lois, Geraldine, and brother James.

Major Cook will be buried at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on September 2, 2014 at 9:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks a donation be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Animal Rescue Spay /Neuter Program.

We will miss you; your mischievous smile and contagious laugh until we all come together again with Christ Jesus.
