Tom was born in Sheridan, Wyoming to Orvil and Elsie Burnworth on February 23, 1930. He joined two older brothers, Bill and Corwin. He was raised in Sheridan and enjoyed pulling silly pranks, fishing and camping throughout the mountains with his older brothers. After graduating from high school, he joined the Army. Tom served his country for 26 years, which included tours during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He traveled extensively during his service spending time throughout the United States, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Germany.

On December 26, 1956 he met the love of his life at the movie theater in Wertheim, Germany. They married on April 19, 1958 and added two children to their family, Thomas and Carol Ann. After retiring from the Army in 1973, Tom and Marianne decided to make Broomfield their home. Tom went back to school and received several associate degrees from Front Range Community College. During this time, he also took a job at the Coors Container Company. He enjoyed his work and employer and retired after 20 years of service.

Tom had many interests and hobbies including spending time with wife and friends, fishing, camping, taking long walks throughout the neighborhood, gardening, reading, wood marquetry, and attending his beloved Broomfield Rec Center water aerobics. You could count on him to have a positive outlook and can-do attitude. He also enjoyed traveling to Germany to visit his loving family and friends and his visits to the Big Island of Hawaii, even surviving the Tsunami of 2011!

He leaves behind a loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Marianne, who is truly blessed for the time she was given; two children, Thomas and Carol Ann; son-in-law, Keith; grandchildren, Jorden, Tonja and Mychal; sister-in-law, Ida; nieces, Barb and Heike; “brother” and wife, Dick and Colleen.
