Doris Irene BREWER Ketcham 1931 - 2023 SHS 1949

Doris Irene Ketcham, a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and beloved member of the community, peacefully passed away on June 5, 2023. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, service, and unwavering love.

Doris was born on December 28, 1931, in Alexandria, Indiana, and later moved to Sheridan, Wyoming, in 1945. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1949, setting the foundation for a life filled with remarkable achievements and meaningful connections.

On June 26, 1964, Doris married the love of her life, Dwayne G. Ketcham. Together, they embarked on a beautiful journey that lasted until Dwayne's passing in 2001. Their shared adventures included memorable trips to Disneyland and the Black Hills of South Dakota, where they celebrated their honeymoon. These cherished moments created a treasure trove of joyful memories that Doris held close to her heart throughout her life.

Doris's dedication to community service was commendable, as she actively engaged in various organizations. For an impressive 27 years, she was involved with the Business and Professional Women, assuming positions of local President, district Director, and State Historian. Doris also served on the State Public Relations and Adult Day Care committees, demonstrating her commitment to improving the lives of others.

Among her notable contributions, Doris held positions as president and board member of the Sheridan, Johnson County Pioneers. She also served as the secretary of the Sheridan County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Brundage Homemakers. Her invaluable service to these organizations showcased her selflessness and deep-rooted desire to make a positive difference in the lives of those around her.

Above all, Doris's greatest love was reserved for her beloved husband, Dwayne, and their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family. She found immense joy and fulfillment in their presence, treasuring every moment spent together. Doris had a passion for music, poetry, cooking, and reading, which she shared with her loved ones, creating lasting bonds and unforgettable experiences.

Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dwayne Giroux Ketcham, her parents Mary Hawthorne and Eugene Brewer, her brothers Ralph, John, Robert, Eugene, and Larry Brewer, and her treasured grandsons Johnathon Scott and Jace Colton Howard. Although deeply missed, their memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.

She is survived by her son Larry Wayne (Charlene) Ketcham, New Providence, Iowa, and her daughter Lisa Renee (Jennifer) Ketcham-Hendrickson, Evergreen, Colorado. Doris also leaves behind three grandsons, Erik Ketcham, Jordan and Jett Howard, as well as two granddaughters, Erin Anderson and Taryn Howard. Her family circle expanded to include twelve great-grandchildren. Her family brought her immeasurable joy and happiness.

A graveside service will be held at Kane Funeral home on September 1, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. Following the service, a small reception will take place, offering an opportunity for family and friends to share cherished memories and support one another during this time of loss.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be sent to benefit Junctions and Journeys, Inc. This nonprofit organization was founded by Doris's daughter in honor of her grandsons, Johnathon and Jace. Junctions and Journeys provides integrative health modalities to individuals working through mental health and addiction crises, enhancing their path to recovery. Doris Irene Ketcham will forever be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and the love she shared with her family and community. Her impact on the lives of those she touched will continue to be felt, and her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
