Former Sheridan resident Ruth Helmerick, 74, of Longmont Colo,, died Thursday, June 17, 2004, in Hospice Care Center in Louisville, Colo.

Funeral services were Wednesday at Westview Presbyterian Church in Longmont.

Grave services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with the Rev. Brian Johnson officiating.

Friends my meet before service time at Kane Funeral Home, which is handling local arrangements.

Mrs. Helmerick was born Dec. 27, 1929, in Sheridan to Roger and Alice (Richardson) Rochford. She graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor of Arts degree and taught school in Douglas.

She married Dr. Robert H. Helmerick June 26, 1954, in Sheridan.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and china painting with friends in the Northern Colorado Artist Porcelain and Porcelain Artist Guild. She was a member and past deacon of Westview Presbyterian Church and member of Deborah Ruth Circle.

She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Jean Sherman.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Robert of Cheyenne and James of Medical Lake, Wash.; three daughters, Jean Gorzalka of Sheridan, Ruth Heald of Casper and Mary Helmerick of Fort Lupton, Colo.; and nine grandchildren.
