Joanne PERKINS Bell 1930 - 2004 SHS 1948

SHERIDAN -- Memorial services will be held at a later date for Sheridan resident Joanne P. Bell, 73, who died March 25, 2004, at her home.

At her request, cremation has taken place, under the direction of Champion-Ferries Funeral Home of Sheridan.

Born Oct. 12, 1930, she was the daughter of James R. and Helen (Thompson) Perkins; and was raised and educated in Sheridan, graduating from Sheridan High School. She earned a bachelor degree from Montana State University in Bozeman, then received a master's from Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mont.

In 1952, she married Charles T. "Chuck" Bell in Sheridan.

A teacher at Squirrel Creek and Acme and schools in Montana, she then went to work at the Sheridan Veterans Affairs Medical Center as a psychologist. She retired in the 1970s.

She was a member of the Cattlewomen's Association and numerous art groups and loved children.

Her interests included sewing, reading, doing crossword puzzles, displaying her husband's artwork, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her sister, Barbara Lou Jorgenson of Sheridan; and 19 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother.
