BUFFALO -- A celebration of life for Robert "Bob" R. Murdock, 75, will be held at the Buffalo Wesleyan Church at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 2006, with a reception following in the church hall.

He died Aug. 9, 2006, at Sheridan VA Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born May 19, 1931, in Sheridan, to Ruth (Montgomery) and George Murdock. He graduated from Sheridan High School at age 16 and then worked on the family ranch.

He served the Army honorably in Korea and while in the service, met his wife, Diann Perrigo, in San Jose, Calif. They were married in 1954 and moved to the family ranch in Ranchester.

He attended Hiemans Business College. Later, moving to Sheridan, they raised five children.

He worked at the VA Hospital in supply, served on the Sheridan City Council and was a member of the Sheridan Elks Lodge.

They moved to Lubbock, Texas, in 1975, when he was promoted to chief of supply with the VA Hospital. He later transferred to the VA hospitals in Beckley, W.Va., and Hot Springs, S.D., and received a national commendation for his outstanding service to the V.A.

He retired and returned to Buffalo, where he enjoyed gardening. He was recognized for a growing a 100-pound pumpkin. He also found great pleasure in learning about sheep ranching at the Nine Mile Ranch near Kaycee.

He had a wonderful sense of humor. His interests were fishing and hunting in the Big Horn Mountains. He also enjoyed bowling, picnics and parades. He adored his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.

He loved animals, especially Mr. Tom. One of his great joys was listening to his wife play the piano and organ at church.

Survivors include his wife and children, Wendy Pheasant of Buffalo, Linda Julian of Goodyear, Ariz., Jeff Murdock of East Maitland, Australia, and Beth Forrest and Vicki Ball, both of Colorado Springs, Colo., and 12 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Buffalo Wesleyan Church building fund.

Arrangments are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home in Sheridan.
