Eileen "Ike" LEO Adams 1930 - 2015 SHS 1948

Eileen "Ike" Adams, 84, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015 surrounded by her family in Gillette, WY.

Eileen was born on December 29, 1930 to Ellen Nellie & Thommasso (Tony) Capua Leo in Sheridan, WY. She was the second of six children. S he attended Holy Name Catholic School and graduated from Sheridan High School.

She married Donald Lee Adams, and had four daughters. While raising her four beautiful daughters to be strong, independent women, she worked at the Sheridan YMCA as a janitor for several years and then at the Energy Inn. She walked to and from work almost every day.

She moved to Gillette in 1985 where she took great care of her grandchildren. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was always happy to see them. She enjoyed attending their school and sporting events, shopping with anyone that would drive her, mastering cross word puzzles, watching ball games on TV, and teasing and giving everyone "a bad time." She had an amazing sense of humor; it was quite raunchy at times! She could do a jig, cut a rug, and shake a leg with the best of them, and she was always the life of the party. She was always surrounded with pictures of her family, and bragged about them every chance she got.

In May of 2012, due to her rheumatoid arthritis, she moved to Pioneer Manor in Gillette. Unfortunately, this was the end of her beautiful calligraphy handwriting by which her family will always remember her. During her time there, she made even more new friends and liked to joke with the other residents and the staff members that took such good care of her. In her final days, we heard several entertaining stories from many of them.

She was preceded in death by her Momma and Daddy, brother Tommy Leo, and sisters Betty "Bid" Newlon, Kathleen Legerski, and Josephine "Josie" Garriott, and Donald Lee Adams.

She is survived by her baby brother, Jim (Sharon) Leo of Sheridan; and daughters, "Chi-Chi" Barham, Gayleen (Terry) Martin, all of Sheridan, and Colleen "Cookie" Groombridge, and Mickie (Mike) Carlson of Gillette. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Timi Burr, Cody and Kyle Groombridge, Ryan (Jennifer) Wingerter, Tyler (Shelby) Martin, Whitney (Ryan) Fevold, and Morgan Carlson; and her great-grandchildren, Bailey and Bradey Burr, Jayden and Kamryn Groombridge, Kynlee and Kyson Groombridge, Ella and Porter Wingerter, and Leighton and Avery Fevold. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews, too.

We will forever miss this amazing and loving woman!! Along with her famous birthday cards, her cackling laughter, and her wave .... Sometimes with all fingers; sometimes with just one!

A celebration of Eileen's life will be held at Pioneer Manor Chapel on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 3 p.m. A service will also be held at Champion Funeral Home, 244 S. Brooks St. in Sheridan, WY on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 12 noon. A luncheon will follow at the Eagles Lodge on Commercial Drive in Sheridan, WY.
