Vera Lucille KING Smith 1930 - 1992 SHS 1948

SHERIDAN - Memorial services for Vera Lucille Smith, 61, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Champion Funeral Home by Bob Wilson.

Mrs. Smith died Feb. 19, 1992, at the Sheridan County Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 8, 1930, at Erick, Okla., the daughter of Eddie Lee and Leslie (Christiansen) King. On March 22, 1951, she married Berdon William Smith in Sheridan.

Mrs. Smith worked for the "Sheridan Press," became a copywriter for KWYO Radio, and then worked as a news director for KOWB. She was co-owner of Berdon's TV and Hi-Fi in Sheridan from 1954 through 1977. Following employment as a salesperson, Mrs. Smith became an administrator for KROE from 1977 to 1988. She then worked as a salesperson for the "Country Journal" until 1991.

Mrs. Smith was an avid painter and enjoyed meeting and working with people.

Besides her husband of Sheridan, survivors include a son, Barry Smith of Salt Lake City, Utah; a daughter, Sherri Smith of Cheyenne; and her mother, Leslie King of Sheridan. Also surviving are a brother, Francis King of Bellevue, Wash.; and two sisters, Marjorie West of Arvada and Ada Scheiterle of Shawnee Mission, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her father.
