John Olaf Jurkow, age 72, of Hopkins, MN.

Preceded in death by parents, Julius and Tilla Jurkow.

Survived by cousins and friends.

John was born in Sheridan, Wyoming, where he graduated from high school. He graduated cum laude from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, where he also played violin in the college orchestra. John studied journalism for two years in the graduate school at the University of Minnesota.

He was a long-time member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Hopkins. John's strong faith and love for writing resulted in numerous religious and inspirational writings. His independent spirit helped him overcome life's challenges and his concern for others made him a loyal friend and willing caregiver.

Funeral service at 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 2, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 715 Minnetonka Mills Road, Hopkins, Minnesota. Visitation one hour before service. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis. Washburn-McReavy 952-938-9020
