SHERIDAN - Funeral services for Sheridan resident Murray Brown Jenrich, 71, will be conducted at 10 a.m. today at Kane Funeral Home, with Pastors Douglas Goodwin and Tony Forman officiating.

He died Oct. 6, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

He was born Dec. 3, 1929, in Sheridan, the son of Ray and Geraldine Jenrich.  He was raised on the family ranch on Beaver Creek and loved the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing.

In 1948, he graduated from Sheridan High School and, in 1952, earned a bachelor degree from Colorado State University in Fort Collins.

While at CSU, he met Norma Garwood and they were married March 11, 1951.

Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Air Force as a second lieutenant and served in Japan during the Korean War.  The couple moved to Sheridan in 1954.

He was a respected businessman in the insurance industry, starting his career in 1955 with Bridgford-Moore Insurance Agency, later BHJ Inc.  Serving as president of BHJ for more than 30 years, he retired in 1991, but remained a strong influence within the organization until his death.

Throughout his life, he was an active member of the Sheridan community, serving as past president of Jaycees and a member of Elks Lodge No. 520, Masonic Lodge No. 8, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Ducks unlimited and First Christian Church.  He enjoyed his later years with family and friends, spending time in the mountains, boating, fishing and hunting, as his favorite activity, snowmobiling.

Survivors include his wife of Sheridan; three daughters and their husbands, Robin Lemke of Durham, N.C., Sherri Gazdik of Sheridan and Kelly Brown of St. Paul, Minn.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter.
