James Allen HUGGINS 1929 -2000 SHS 1948

James Allen Huggins, 71 of Story died June 8, 2000 in Arvada.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sheridan Wesleyan Church with Pastor Chuck Lucas officiating. Interment will follow in the Story cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Kane Funeral Home.

Mr. Huggins was born May 30, 1929, in Story to James William and Mary Blanche Bebb Huggins. After high school graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

While working as the head horse wrangler in Yellowstone Park, he met and fell in love with Janet Hayes. They were married Sept. 17, 1954, in Sheridan. The couple settled in Story.

He was employed and retired from Decker Coal. Mr. Huggins was an avid horseman and enjoyed taking pack trips to the mountains.

Survivors include his wife, Janet, of Story; his children, Vane Lee of Easton, Kan., Jeffrey Allen of Story, Julie Lorraine Miller of Weldona, Colo. and Bill of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brother, Wilbur of Sheridan; sister, Jean Lunbeck of Story and six grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents, sister Grace Goin, and his son, Jay Stevens.
