Carol Jean CAMPBELL Hayter 1930 – 2015 SHS 1948

Carol Jean (Campbell) Hayter (also known as "Mammo" to her family and close friends) passed away on December 10, 2015 at her home in Bakersfield, California.

Carol was born on October 14, 1930 in Casper, Wyoming. After graduating from Sheridan High School, Carol moved to Taft, California and was shortly thereafter employed at the Auto Club of Southern California. It was in Taft that she met the love of her life, Cliff Hayter. They were married in 1950 and for the next 25 years she and Cliff owned and operated Hayter Trucking. In 1980 they sold the business and retired in Arroyo Grande, CA. After Cliff passed away in 1993, Carol moved to Bakersfield to be with her family until her passing.

Carol enjoyed cooking, entertaining, shopping and traveling with Cliff and her friends. And, of course, she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Carol was an active member of the early Desk & Derrick Club, Business and Professional Women, the Westside Petroleum Club and the Lady Elks. She was also a longtime member and supporter of the West Kern Oil Museum in Taft, California.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Malcolm and Reta Campbell (1978/1977); her husband, Cliff Hayter (1993); and her daughter, Christy Reed (2009).

Carol is survived by her daughter, Kim Chaney of Bakersfield, CA; her grandsons, Jason Reed and his wife, Mindy and Jordan Reed and his wife, Bethany all of Bakersfield; her granddaughters, Megan and Katie Chaney of Bakersfield; her four great-granddaughters, Cortney Reed of Taft, Sydney Cole, Paris Reed and Haley Reed of Bakersfield; and her great-grandson, Hudson Reed of Bakersfield.

Upon her wishes, no services will be held and Carol will lay at rest inside the mausoleum at the West Side District Cemetery in Taft, California.
