Billy M. STRICKLAND 1929 - 2011 SHS 1947

Billy M. Strickland, 82, passed away on December 11, 2011 at the Grand Junction VA Medical Center.

Billy was born on September 27, 1929 to Earl B. and Cora M. (Sowers) Strickland in Denver, CO. He grew up in Sheridan, Wyoming and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1947. Billy served with the 300th AFAB "The Cowboy Cannoneers", in Korea from 1950-1952.

On March 22, 1952 he married Margaret "Peggy" Towns in Sheridan, WY.

Billy was a salesman and worked for several major car dealerships in the Denver area where he and Peggy raised their five children.

Billy worked tirelessly for the Republican Party in Adams County, CO during the 1960's and later for the reform party in Wyoming.

He and Peggy owned and operated a "Home Away from Home" apartment building on Capitol Hill in Denver during the 1980's until their move to Riverton, WY in 1993, then Clifton, CO in 2003.

Billy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Peggy of Clifton, CO; three sons, Byron L. of Grand Junction; Mark B. (Trudy) of Denver, CO, and Glenn M. of Denver; two daughters, Lisabeth G. Brown o f Denver, and Patricia E. (Hamid) Tajalli of Las Vegas, NV, and three grandchildren, Jeremiah Brown of Denver; Sara Tajalli of Atlanta, GA, and Moses Tajalli of Las Vegas, NV. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care of Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
