Carl Robert SMITH 1929 - 2002 SHS 1947

SPOKANE - Services will be held at a later date for Carl R. Smith, 72. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smith, a 14-year resident of Spokane, was born in Enid, Okla. He died Monday.

He served in the Navy from 1947 to 1951, and was a prisoner of war during the Korean War. He worked for Hughes Aircraft for 26 years, and was involved with NASA related projects.

Mr. Smith was a member of the American Legion, Eagles Lodge and St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church.

His wife of 33 years, Robella, died in 1983.

Survivors include a son, Robert Smith of Santa Barbara, Calif.; three daughters, Rochelle Hutchinson of Spokane, Christine Hagee of Mesa, Ariz., and Maty Howard of Santa Barbara; a sister, Marilyn Monroe of Story, Wyo.; a stepsister, Nicole Buriand of Spokane; and 12 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion in Post Falls or the Union Gospel Mission.
