Robert J. Prusak, 79, of Sheridan died Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Sheridan VA Medical Center.

Cremation has taken place and private family services will be later. Burial of cremains will be in Sheridan Elks Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is in charge arrangements.

Born May 24, 1929, in Joliet, Ill., to Andrew and Elizabeth Prusak, he attended Ulm and Sheridan schools.

He married Nancy Fryberger on July 30, 1954.

Mr. Prusak was employed by the original Stevens Fryberger Co. until 1960, when he and his wife bought a ranch on the Ulm Divide, where they remained throughout their lives.

He served on the Agriculture and Soil Conservation committees, with the 160th Infantry, and later with the 8th Army Military Police in Korea.

He was a life member of the Elks, Scottish Rite, Kalif Shrine, and Masonic lodges and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

An award-winning country western performer, Mr. Prusak played with various bands and at many jams and benefits. He was a member of the Wyoming and Black Hills Country Music associations.

He was a licensed pilot and in 1999 received a 50-year pin with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.

He enjoyed his livestock and ranch work.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

Survivors include one son, Robert E. Prusak of Sheridan; a brother, Andrew J. Prusak, of Bend, Ore; and several nephews.
