CASPER -- Funeral services for Linn James Maxwell, 78, will be conducted at a later date at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery.

He died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at Sheridan Manor in Sheridan.

He was born June 16, 1928, in Sheridan, the son of James Alfred and Blanche (Stallings) Maxwell. He attend local elementary schools, graduating from Sheridan High School in 1947.

He joined the U.S. Army and attended Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland, studying automotive and electrical systems repair. He was in the Wyoming National Guard with the 300th Armored Battalion.

For nine years he worked in Ogden, Utah for the Hill Field Air Force Base. From there he moved to Rock Springs where he worked for several oil companies. He later returned to the Sheridan area and went to work for Eaton's Dude Ranch.

He was an elder with the Ranchester LDS Church and a member of American Legion Post #17.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include a brother, Leroy Maxwell of Corona, Calif.; two sisters-in-law; one aunt; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Irl and Dale Maxwell.

Memorials may be made to the Natrona County United Veterans Council.
