OBITUARIES - THE SHERIDAN PRESS - March 16, 2002

Jeanne Grey, 73, died February 15, 2002 at Tucson Heart Hospital in Tucson, Arizona.  A memorial service was held on February 18, 2002 at the Dove of Peace Lutheran Church in Tucson.

Melisse Jeanne Bylund was born on December 4, 1928 in Sheridan, Wyoming, to the late Gothard Oscar Bylund.  She attended grade schools in Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1947 with honors.  She belonged to the Honor Society in her fourth year, Bronc Staff, Ocksheperida Staff and Glee Club.  During high school she demonstrated the passion for reading, the sewing skills and the talent for homemaking that marked her entire life.

She attended the University of Wyoming for one year and then Sheridan College where she earned a teaching certificate.  She taught for two years at a one-room school at Big Goose, Sheridan, with Ruth Grey, who introduced her to her son and Jeanne's future husband, Donald Carson Grey.  They were married August 30, 1950 in Sheridan, Wyoming.  Don taught math and physics at Sheridan College for ten years.  They moved to Salt Lake City, Utah and then worked in environmental engineering with Utah Power & Light.  Don preceded her in death on May 2, 1984.  Jeanne moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1986.

Jeanne was an avid gardener, renowned for her beautiful roses and iris.  She was also a collector of antique glass, visiting swap meets and garage sales weekly.  She especially loved spending time with her family.  She survived her life's many challenges with a unique combination of strength, common sense and dry wit which sustained her to the end.

She is survived by her three children, Gothard, Melisse, and William, and her firve grandchildren, all of Salt Lake City, Utah.  She is also survived by four sisters, Jenny Rollins (Phoenix, Arizona), Donna Rawlings (Sheridan, Wyoming), Evelyn Griesser (Tucson, Arizona) and Mary Taliaferro (Scottsdale, Arizona), all born and raised in Sheridan, Wyoming, ban by eleven nieces and nephews.

The family suggests donations to the American Lung Association, in lieu of flowers.
