Nancy YONKEE Gentry 1928 - 1994 SHS 1946

SHERIDAN - Services for Nancy Yonkee Gentry, 65, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Champion Funeral Home by Father David Duprey.

Mrs. Gentry died May 25, 1994, at Memorial Hospital of natural causes.

She was born June 2, 1928, in Sheridan to Adolph G. and Ruth (Brooks) Yonkee. She grew up on the family ranch at Pass Creek near Parkman, Wyo., as well as at the Yonkee home in Sheridan. In 1946, she graduated from Sheridan High School and then attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill., and Montana State University in Bozeman, Mont.

On Sept. 9, 1950, she married Johnnie Gentry in Sheridan. Five years later, the couple moved to a ranch in the Wolf Mountains at Lodge Grass, Mont. They retired in 1991 and moved to Big Horn.

Mrs. Gentry was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Lodge Grass Woman's and Grandmothers clubs, Montana Cow-Belles and Pi Beta Phi sorority in college. 'She also helped with elections and meals at the Senior Citizens Center in Big Horn.

She was known for her love of her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them at the ranch at Lodge Grass.

Her hobbies included gardening and sharing the produce with friends; watching hummingbirds; and listening to music, especially that of George Strait.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Lyman; a sister, Julia; and two infant daughters.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Mark J. of Sheridan and Kim T. of Big Horn; two sisters, Katherine Dockery and Ada L. Yonkee of Parkman; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Champion Funeral Home until 9 a.m. Tuesday.
