Harry J. WANTULOK 1927 - 2012 SHS 1946

Harry J. Wantulok passed away August 17th, 2012.

Known as Cubie by his Sheridan family and friends, Harry was born on October 27th, 1927 in the little coal-mining town of Monarch, Wyoming. Harry was one of nine children born to Polish immigrants.

In his younger years, Harry worked with his siblings in the coal mines before heading off to Cody on his own. He worked miscellaneous construction jobs including the original Buffalo Bill Museum and the Sweitzer gymnasium.

Harry went on to work for the Cody Gas Company for 33 years. While raising his four children, Harry enjoyed hunting, fishing and coaching baseball. Even after his children were grown, Harry continued to be an active part of the Cody baseball community by volunteering. Harry became known as "The Enforcer" due to his role in collecting entrance fees to the American Legion baseball games; the people who tried to sneak in were eventually tracked down! He was also an avid Cody Bronc basketball and football fan, attending their games for many years.

Some might say that Harry was "a needle in a haystack" for his exceptional ability to solve puzzles and riddles and he even gained national recognition when he won a magazine competition by following clues that literally led him to a large wooden needle hidden in Wyoming.

Harry is survived by his wife Bonney; sons Lee and John (Susie); daughter Candy (Mark) Farwell; 7 grandchildren Carly, Blair, Kellen, Adrienne, Erin, Kobi, Kristin and Jennifer, great-granddaughters Kayla, Tiffany, Katie and sisters Mary Jane (Walt) Legerski and Shirley (Ron) Martini.

He was preceded in death by his son Andrew "Andy" Ralph Wantulok, his parents, Andrew and Eva Wantulok; sisters and brothers Amelia Selig, Andrew Wantulok, Josephine Raicevich, Evelyn Dovey, Frances Johnson and Albert Wantulok.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Cody.
