Berdon William SMITH 1928 - 2000 SHS 1946

SHERIDAN - A memorial service for Berdon William Smith, 71, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ferries Funeral Home with Bob Wilson officiating.

He died June 20, 2000, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.

He was born Nov. 11, 1928, in Sheridan, the son of Clarence and Helen (Post) Smith. He grew up and graduated from high school in Sheridan. He graduated from Sheridan College, where he was student body president. He graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in education. He enlisted in the Army and served in the occupation of Japan after World War II.

After the service, he returned to Sheridan where he married Vera King on March 20, 1951, in Sheridan. They moved to Lusk where he taught math. They moved to Dayton, where he taught math at Tongue River schools. Later, they moved into Sheridan where he owned and operated Berdon's IV & Hi-Fi for more than 20 years.

His wife preceded him in death in 1992.

In his early years, he enjoyed motorcycles and the Sturgis Rally. He also enjoyed polka music and photography.

Survivors include a son, Barry Smith of Salt Lake City; a daughter. Sherri Smith of Cheyenne; and a brother, Arthur Smith of Sheridan.
