Steven E. SABO Sr. 1928 - 2013 SHS 1946

Steven E. Sabo Sr., 85, of Laureldale, passed away Wednesday June 26th in his residence of natural causes.

He was married to Irene (Gaydos) Sabo. Steven and Irene celebrated sixty-three years of marriage.

Born in Sheridan, Wyoming, he was the son of the late Steve S. Sabo and Marie (Kovacic) Sabo.

He was employed by Polymer Corporation in Reading for thirty two years, retiring in 1986.

He was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church.

He served in the Army Air Force.

He enjoyed electronics, computers, and playing the violin. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. They traveled to Wyoming on many trips, including one in which Steven and Irene and their seven children traveled to Wyoming in a nine-passenger station wagon without any air conditioning. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his wife.

Additional survivors include his children: Steven E. Sabo Jr., husband of Mary, of Lead, SD; Richard J. Sabo of Reading; Donald L. Sabo, husband of Allison, of Laureldale; Connie J., wife of Kenneth Keffer, of Harrisburg; James M. Sabo, husband of Catherine, of Harrisburg, and Robert J. Sabo, husband of Rosantina, Texas. He was predeceased by two children, Bonnie Sabo and Christine, wife of Gary Sprague.

There are seven grandchildren: Skeat, Robert Jr., Kayleigh, Stosch, Christine, and Matthew Sabo and Kelly Havens. There are three great-grandchildren: Linley Sabo and Mia and Maci Havens.

He is survived by four siblings: Gerald Sabo of Wyoming, Patricia LaSpisa of NJ, Donald Sabo of Texas, and James Sabo of Wyoming. Also, one cousin, Candace Fleischer.

He is predeceased by a grandson, Derek Sprague, son of the late Christine Sprague.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 29th at 10 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 3121 Kutztown Rd., Hyde Park, Reading, PA 19605 with Rev. Msgr Dennis T. Hartgen celebrant. Interment will follow in Laureldale Cemetery, Tuckerton. Family and friends may attend a viewing on Friday, tonight, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc., 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple, PA.

As Steven enjoyed flowers, flowers are welcome for his service.
