Betty G. Snyder, 81, passed away in Casper, WY at the Central Wyoming Hospice & Transitions Chapman Home on Tuesday, February 9, 2010.

Betty was born in Beatrice, Nebraska on October 12th, 1928 to Thomas M. & Agatha Lucille (Collier) Griffin. Betty moved to Sheridan, WY in 1929 with her family where she grew up and attended Sheridan Schools. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1946.

She enlisted in the U.S.A.F. and served from Oct, 1950 to Dec, 1951 in the 3700 WAF Sq. Lackland AFB San Antonio, TX where she was promoted to the rank of Sgt.

Betty married Jake S. Snyder on September 15, 1956 in Casper, WY.

She began her career as a stenographer with the CPA firm Raab, Roush, and Gaymon in 1957. Because of her organizational abilities, she did not remain a stenographer for long. She remained with the company through many transitions and name changes and retired from McGladrey and Pullen as Office Administrator in 1993 after 35 years of dedicated service.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lois Eloise Bourke; a brother, Richard D. Griffin; and her husband of 23 years, Jake S. Snyder.

Survivors include three nephews; James J. Bourke II of Woodbridge, VA., Ronald D. Bourke of Hastings, NB and Michael W. Bourke of Sheridan, WY. She is also survived by a special friend, Deb King of Casper, WY.

She enjoyed visiting her family and friends and was an active member of First Christian Church. She had a beautiful soprano voice and sang in the choir all of her life and later sang with The Meadowlarks through the Casper Senior Center.

In recent years Betty enjoyed living at Garden Square and all the activities that she participated in there.

Her greatest pleasure was reading with the children at Sagewood Elementary.

Betty will be missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends and all who knew her as a kind and generous woman.

Funeral services will be provided by Bustards Funeral Home, Casper, WY. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Christian Church in Casper, WY on Tuesday, February 16, 2010. Viewing will be in the sanctuary from 3:00 - 3:45 p.m. with services at 4:00 p.m. followed by a brief reception. The Rev. Cynthia Dobson McBride, Lead Pastor, will preside. Cremation will follow. will be in the Municipal Cemetery (Elks Lodge Section) in Sheridan, Wyoming.

Memorials may benefit First Christian Church or Central Wyoming Hospice.
