SHERIDAN - Services for Herb Canfield, 67, of Sheridan will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Ferries Funeral Home by the Rev. Ray Clark. Interment will be at the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Mr. Canfield died Aug. 28, 1995, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center of natural causes.

He was born April 11, 1928, in Gillette to William and Ida Mae (Thomas) Canfield. He moved to Sheridan during his youth and graduated from Sheridan High School. He then served with the U.S. Navy.

On March 19, 1950, he married Loraine Fox in Sheridan.

Mr. Canfield worked as a mechanic with Westbrook Motors for approximately 20 years. He then was employed as a custodian for Woodland Park School until his retirement in 1988. For many years, he was active as a leader of Scouts and 4-H. Mr. Canfield enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Darrell Canfield of Gillette; three daughters, Marna Owens and Elaine Merkey, both of Sheridan and Karen Jennings of Boston; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nephews and cousins.

Memorials to benefit the Boy Scouts would be appreciated and may be made in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, Sheridan, 82801.
