BUFFALO - Funeral services for Shirley Bates, 67, of Clearmont will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Adams Funeral Home in Buffalo with Doug Stahl officiating.

Mrs. Bates died suddenly at the Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

She was born Oct. 4, 1927, in Sheridan to Harry and Nellie Rasmussen. She grew up and went to school in Clearmont and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1945. She attended college in Denver at Colorado Women's College.

She was married to Ken Bates on the family ranch in 1950. They lived, ranched and raised their boys in Clearmont and in 1990, they moved into town where they lived until the time of her death.

She was a member of the NRA, the Humane Society and the Sheridan Sportsman's Club. She loved animals, gardening, hunting, fishing and spending time with her grandkids.

She is survived by her husband, Ken, of Clearmont; two sons, Fritz Bates of Clearmont and Dallas Bates of Slana, Alaska; five grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Donations may be made in her memory to the Ranch Kids 4-H Club or the Clear Creek Chapter of the FFA.
