Dede Caplan MEYER 1928 - 1998 SHS 1945

Sheridan native Dede C. Meyer, 70, of Webster Pass, N.H., died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Chadwick Funeral Service of New London, N.H., is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Sept. 24, 1928, to D.C. and Ida (Caplan) Meyer. He graduated from Sheridan High School and the University of Nebraska and received his master's degree in theater arts from Columbia University.

He worked at the New London Barn Playhouse from 1958-1968 and was co-owner at the time of his death. From 1969 until his retirement in 1993, he worked for Saatchi and Saatchi advertising, recording productions for radio and television commercials in New York. He retired as senior vice president.

Mr. Meyer directed musicals and played the piano. He was involved with four off-Broadway musicals for which he wrote music and lyrics.

He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He owned property in Springfield, N.H., for 30 years and lived there permanently after 1993. Mr. Meyer was involved with the Multiple Sclerosis Society, raising $1,795 in the MS Walkathon last spring.

Survivors include his wife, Priscilla (Talcott) Meyer, of Springfield and a nephew, Steven Raish of Dallas.
