Domenica MEDIATE Wilkerson 1927 - 2013 SHS 1945

Domenica "Mickie" Wilkerson, age 86, of Denver, Colorado passed away at her home on Sunday, October 27th after 6 months of dedicated care from her loving family. She passed peacefully and in positive spirits as she always carried herself.

Domenica was born in Cirella, Italy on March 11, 1927 to Domenic and Rosina Mediate. The family chased their dream and immigrated to the United States in 1935, settling in Sheridan, Wyoming. Domenica graduated from Sheridan Highschool in 1945 and then began working at MDU for several years.

She met her husband Wm. Norman "Bud" Wilkerson and they were married November 24, 1956 at Holy Name Church in Sheridan Wyoming. The two moved to Denver and founded Wilkerson's Produce Company in 1962. Domenica, the mother of four boys and one daughter was a devoted mother, wife, and a keen business woman. She ran Wilkerson's Produce's on Santa Fe Drive for 50+ years. She carried boxes of produce for people half her age. Few would have guessed her true age and she always kept it a mystery. Perhaps this is what kept her so young or maybe it was her sunny personality and her positive outlook on life. Easily one of the strongest, most caring, and beautiful ladies; mentally and physically you will have ever met. Her kindness, business savvy, and Italian flair will be missed.

Mickie, as she was known, was preceded in death by her loving husband "Bud" Wilkerson, beloved son David Wilkerson, sister Lucia Voogd (Stan), and brother Frank (Agnes) Mediate.

She is survived by one brother Vincent "Jim" Mediate, four children, Gregory (Linda) Wilkerson, Curtis Wilkerson, Lance (Merlarose) Wilkerson, and Lisa (Mark) Novosel; ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, nieces Anita Voogd Barnes, Cara Voogd Schroeder, Carla Kurtz, Crista Mediate deceased, Valerie Mediate Urevig, Kathleen Mediate Pfeiff, nephews, Stan Mediate, Brian Voogd, George Mediate, and several cousins in Cirella, Italy and Sydney, Australia.
