UW Instructor Dies in Beirut

SHERIDAN (AP) - A University of Wyoming instructor teaching in Afghanistan died Tuesday in a U S. Army hospital in Beirut, Lebanon where he had been flown to undergo surgery for removal of a blood clot lodged in his brain.

He was Jerry Fox, 28, a native of Sheridan, who had lived in Kabul, Afghanistan since February, 1955. He taught farm crops and soil courses under a contract between the University of Wyoming and the U. S. foreign operations administration.

Fox was graduated from the university in 1953 and remained there as an agronomist. He was one of 20 university technicians in Afghanistan.

Surviving are his widow Maxine; two sons, Gary and Curtis: and his mother Mrs. J. R. Fox of Sheridan.

The body will be flown to Sheridan for burial.
