Dorothy Evelyn COPPLE Madia 1927 - 1996 SHS 1945

CENTRALIA, Wash. - A Requiem Mass will be held in Sheridan this summer for both S.J. "Chic" and Dorothy Evelyn Madia with inurnment in Jackson Hole.

Mrs. Madia died Feb. 16, 1996, at St, Peter's Hospital in Olyrnpia, Wash., of pulmonary fibrosis. She was 66.

Mrs. Madia was born May 9, 1927, in Ottumwa, Iowa, one of five children of William and Laura (Nichols) Copple. She was raised in South Dakota and Sheridan, graduating from Sheridan High School in 1945.

On Nov. 26, 1948, she married S.J. "Chic" Madia in Sheridan. The couple had four children. She was employed by Mountain Bell Telephone Company in Sheridan and Cheyenne for 15 years, retiring in 1966.

Between 1970 and 1985, she assisted her husband as his bookkeeper in motel and resort management in Buffalo, Casper, Laramie and Jackson and in San Diego. Because of Mr Madia's illness, the couple moved to Centralia in 1986, where Mrs. Madia was employed parHime until the time of her death by Timberland Regional Library and the City of Centralia.

An avid reader and excellent seamstress, she was a member of the Episcopal Church for the past 40 years and an active member of Grant Hodge Unit No. 17 of the American Legion Auxiliary Mrs Madia was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, her parents, one sister and both brothers.

She is survived by her children, Holly Marie McNutt of Centralia, Lt. Cmdr. Frank 0. Madia of Burke, Va , Marry Ann Cutter of Longmont, Colo., and John F. Madia of Littleton, Colo.; her sister, Helen Godwin of Sheridan, four grandchildren and 20 nieces and nephews.
