Jay Leonard “Bud” Biley, 82, of Clearmont died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at home surrounded by family.

A celebration of life is 10 a.m. Saturday at Clearmont Community Church with Pastor Monty Rostad officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Big Horn, followed by a luncheon gathering of family and friends at Big Horn Woman's Club. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Born Aug. 8, 1927, in Sheridan to Jay and Olive (Miller) Biley, he grew up on his grandfather Silas Miller’s homestead on Lower Prairie Dog, raised by his mother and grandmother. He attended the Miller School on Lower Prairie Dog and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1945.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served a tour of active duty on the USS Hancock in the Atlantic at the close of World War II.

After the service, he went to work for the Bar 13 Ranch south of Big Horn.

He married Nadine “Billie” Richards of Sheridan on June 10, 1951, and they raised three daughters.

They remained on the Bar 13, where he retired as a full-time ranch hand in the summer of 1996.

In 2002, they moved to Clearmont to live on their daughter and son-in-law's ranch.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Bryant.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Marla Biley of Gillette, Carol Perry of Clearmont, and Bonnie Bell of Casper; two sisters, Phyllis Parenteau of Billings and Edith McClurg of Anchorage, Alaska; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may benefit the Clearmont Community Church Building Fund.
