Robert Wesley ROSS 1927 - 2000 SHS 1944

Robert Wesley Ross, 73, passed away at St Vincent Healthcare in Billings on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000.

Robert was born on March 12, 1927, in Sheridan, Wyo, the son of Angus and Maude (Hamel) Ross. After high school, he went on to Colorado State University, earning a degree in civil engineering.

Robert served in the U.S. Army as a Field Artillery Unit Commander.

He later married Betty Shirran of Greybull, Wyo., on Dec. 29, 1955, in Greybull. They had one son, Jerry.

Throughout his long and successful career as a registered land surveyor and civil engineer, he was involved in numerous projects. His contribution included the design of many of Montana's small airports and many highway improvements projects. He retired from the Montana State Department of Highways in 1994.

Robert touched the lives of many through his kindness and deeds.

He is survived by his son, Jerry Ross of Billings, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty, on July 27,1986.

A brief graveside service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 23, at 11 am at the Hillside Cemetery in Greybull. Reverend Peter Johnson will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Greybull. Visitations will be held on Saturday, Dec 23, at the Atwood Family Chapel in Greybull from 930 to 1030 am.
