Mabel Troas NELSON Morgan 1926 - 2016 SHS 1944

Nov. 5, 1926 - Aug. 28, 2016.

Mabel Troas Morgan, known as Troas, was born November 5th, 1926 in Eugene, Oregon where her parents were attending Eugene Bible College (now known as Northwest Christian College). Her father was a minister and accepted pastorates in many locations. As a result, Troas lived in Thorp, Rosalia, Kuna, Miles City, Sheridan, Kelso and Spokane.

It was in Spokane that she met and married Laurence Morgan in 1955. Together they owned Leo's Studio, Morgan Photo, Dojac's and Lockwood Studio. Troas ran the portrait studio at Leo's Studio and managed Dojac's. She was honored to have had a portrait in the Lisle Ramsey traveling exhibit.

Troas was a long-time member of Opportunity Christian Church where she sang in the choir. Troas was also a member of Magnolia Chapter #194 Order of Eastern Star, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Daughters of the Nile, and PEO. She was a Past Queen (Daughters of the Nile), Past Worthy Matron (Eastern Star), and Past Worthy High Priestess (White Shrine).

Her true pleasures were reading, meaningful discussions, and spending time at the coast where she would watch the waves and take photographs. Over her lifetime, she helped support many people through difficult times with her compassion, wisdom, and in-home clothing boutique.

Troas was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence.

She is survived by her children Julia (Ernie) Tanner of Spokane, John (Linda) Morgan of Snoqualmie, Jerry (Suzanne) Morgan of Renton, grandchildren Brittany (Alex) Vlaski of Issaquah and Trevor (Morgan) Morgan of Seattle, and sisters Necia (Don) Tegarden of Spokane and Marlys Lebow of Idaho Falls.

A memorial service will be held at Opportunity Christian Church, 708 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley on Monday, September 19th, 2016 at 3 pm.

Any remembrances are requested to be made to Eastern Star, White Shrine or Daughters of the Nile.
